I'd like to see some examples of how to call Java from RPG with
attention to the data types.

It wouldn't hurt to have some examples illustrating the changes in RPG
since the publication of the first book.

"Stupid Compiler Directive Tricks" would be interesting. Seriously, I've
mostly used the compiler directives to avoid duplicate identifiers. I
know there's a lot more there.

Maybe a discussion on pointers. It's an area a lot of RPG programmers
find confusing. I suggest "Pointers:Threat or Menace" as a working
title.

The only thing I don't think is possible is making it mandatory reading.
I've just been assigned to a project where the code had been written (in
the last 6 months) by two recently laid off contractors. A lot of the
code looks like it came straight from 1990.

Subject: ** Son of RPG Redbook lives **

IBM have finally decided to go ahead and update the RPG Redbook.

So ..... I'm looking for suggestions as to subjects that should be
covered, areas in the existing book that need updating, etc.

In particular, I'd like to know about new stuff that you've done in the
last year or two where you found the documentation severely lacking and
had to dig around a lot to find answers. I've been monitoring this and
other lists so I have a fair idea of topics that cause problems, but I'd
like as many ideas as possible.

In order to encourage discussion, please respond to this list - but help
me out by sending a CC to my e-mail so that I don't have to dig through
all the digests.
