I have ran into the same problem. Yet another reason to have a way to define template data structures. A template would never have storage, so using INZ would be unambiguous.

Granted, it may seem like a weird request, how do you initialize storage that 
isn't there.  But, when using BASED data structures as templates, it'd be nice 
to be able to use LIKEDS(myTemplateDS) INZ(*LIKEDS).  Additionally, it might be 
nice to allocate some amount of storage and use RESET to initialize specified 
subfields to certain values.

I think such features would come in handy when dealing with the IBM APIs.



Yes, I know, I can waste some storage and have my templates be non-based.
