So,
how would you test that field to see if it is numeric then?

RE: TESTN

Do yourself a favor and forget you ever heard of TESTN. Some letters are
considered numeric by TESTN. I suspect that %INT is not as generous.

?* is the transaction type code numeric?
     c evalr pay_type_test = paytyp
     c testn pay_type_test 99
     c if *in99
     c eval sctax# = %int(paytyp)
     c else
c eval msgdata = 'Invalid Transaction Type
Code'

This is supposed to be working, but a user got the RNX0105 error stating
that the eval sctax# = %int(paytyp)
a character representation of a numeric value is in error.
