You see, I originally declared the EXTFILE variable inside the P
specs, and then realized per the compile attempt, that the EXTFILE
variable had to be global, and so I moved the declarations before the
P specs... It boils down to 'copy' instead of 'cut'

Not 100%, no.  I don't know of any other alcoholic drink that gives
you good breath ;-)
