AFAIK, (this is as far back as V3R?) file name is valid for CHAIN, READ, 
SETLL....  It is not valid for UPDATE, WRITE, DELETE, (well, unless you are in 
V5R?.  You can use file name, but you will need likerec datastruture on result 
field).

V5R3, so maybe that is the reason it works for me, but I am pretty
sure this is supposed to be the standard, to allow both on the
