The reference manual says it matches the job format and says nothing
about following the H spec option for DateEdit(), so yes, I'd say you
should have expected it.

But what I prefer to do is simply name a true date field in the result
field of a TIME operation.  Unlike RPG/400, you may name a time, date,
or timestamp field in addition to a numeric field with 6, 12, or 14
digits.
