I started with row/column, but things got really hosed up when someone added
a field and moved a couple of things around. Why bother having to change
both your DDS and the RPG to reflect the new positions...

Returning the field by name also allows mouse control by simply adding

A CF14(14)
A MOUBTN(*ULP CF14)

Throw in a few "buttons"

A $FNCHANGE 8A O 12 29DSPATR(RI)
A DFTVAL(' Change ')
A COLOR(BLU)
A $FNCANCEL 8A O 12 39DSPATR(RI)
A DFTVAL(' Cancel ')
A COLOR(BLU)

and you can detect mouse clicks on a button by its field name. Anyway, it's
clear there are many ways to handle this....

Subject: RE: Retrieving Cursor Position from Screen.

The only problem with this approach, and I admit it's a minor one, is if the
user has moved the cursor off the field by a character or two. If this has
happened, the the prompt won't be displayed and the cursor will go back to
the first field on the screen.

I personally prefer to use internally defined cursor positions in lieu of
some way to identify the field header the way I can using HLPARA.

A D &$CURPOS)
A $CURREC 10A H
A $CURFLD 10A H
A $CURPOS 4S 0H
A CUSTNO 9S 0B 12 20

Every time the program returns from input, you can test for *IN04 and
$CurFld='yourFldName' to see if you need to display the pop-up. You can
usually disregard the CURPOS and CURREC pieces....
