You can use the QSYGETPH (Get Profile Handle) and QSYRLSPH (Release Profile 
Handle) API's.

To the list,
I need a way to, after the user enters their AS400 password within a custom 
program, to verify that the password entered is valid.  I aware of the API to 
retrieve the encrypted password - is there a way to verify the password.

I am implementing a custom application where the Controller wants to make sure 
that if a user leaves their session signed on, that another user cannot sit 
down at the screen and start taking options.  I do not want to start ending the 
sessions based on last time a key was pressed or anything like that but just 
want to issue a prompt screen for the user's password.
