But we would better like to make them browserbased.

At the risk of making yet another vendor announcement (but if Joe can do it so can I) you could take a look at aXes (US distributor is Linoma Software).

We can not rewrite them.

aXes does not require you to make any changes to your existing code thus it works if you don't have the source. It also works with UIM and handles the DDS GUI constructs such as windows, radio buttons, check boxes, push buttons, and menu bars.

We can not 'Yet' allow to change them in such a way they can not run
anymore on greenscreen.

No changes are required to the application so it continues to work in greenscreen environments.

We can not allow to end up with two versions.

That's one of the fundamental design aspects of aXes. No dual maintenance. Tools that convert DDS to HTML or JSP force dual maintenance. Even if they automate the conversion you still have to change the DDS and then remember to convert to JSP or whatever.

What are the real options/tools available to do this??

aXes is one but there are others. iSeriesNetwork published a few articles covering a large number of re-facing tools.

Mind.. No resources, No time.

That sounds like a perfect fit for aXes. Install it, start it, point your browser at it, and you're done.

Ok... a little time and some resources.

Then you can do additional things like customising the skins, or writing web applications using Lua, etc.

Simon Coulter.
