According to the RPG/400 User's Guide:
"Data structures are character data and can be from 1 to 9999 characters in
length."

So, I *think* you can't read numeric data areas through data area data
structures (UDS). Do this instead:

      C                     Z-ADD0         AVGCLL  52             
      C           *NAMVAR   DEFN LAVGCL    AVGCLL                 
      C                     IN   AVGCLL
