The U doesn't indicate that it's the LDA; it just indicates that the
data area will be brought in during initialization rather than needing
an IN operation.

If there is no name on the D spec, the data area is the LDA.

This would use the LDA:

D            UDS
D   subf                 10a

But this would use MYDTAARA (and somewhat bizarrely create it in QTEMP
if it isn't found):

D mydtaara   UDS
D   subf                 10a
