You're probably right about 32K files per activation group. But if you consider that the minimum storage overhead for a file in an RPG IV module is about 1000 bytes, roughly 16K files already will get you to the 16M limit on static storage in a program. And that's without considering more advanced file function, like reading and writing the data.


But if anyone really needs to know what the limit is, I'd strongly recommend a course of study in program modularization, and perhaps relational database design and dynamic SQL too.
