Unless you are still using array to do sub-file programming, you action is 
conflicting with your statement.  

If subfile is, as you mentioned, hard to understand/learn, IBM should have not 
introduced it into RPG and we should continue using array for sub-file screen.  
I don't know about you, but I sure do not want that.

It is hard only because you are not using it everyday.  RPG programmers, 
including me, are so use to fix form that free-form looks confusing to us.  
However, I think if we start to use it, it will become natural to us.
