if you have a job which status is *MSGW and check that job with the API QUSLJOB 
you'll see that it is *ACTIVE. one possibilty would be to use the internal job 
id of QUSLJOB to make an API call to QUSRJOBI. there you'll find the active job 
status like MSGW or DLYQ or RUN for example (i think it is position 107 but you 
should have a look at the API docs).
