1)  I would argue against storing this static information in the database. 
 Wherever you use it should put it on first.  Why waste the disk space, or 
cause yourself the headache you are getting now?
2)  How's about edit checking the field to make sure it is on there?
3)  Strip it off prior to displaying, and paste it back on after exiting 
the display?
4)  There might even be a Scott Klement api that will verify that the 
entry is correct

Is there a way to protect a part of a input-field ??
In our address file we have a e-mail address and a webpage address field.
This has to be entered by the users.
The problem is that they often forget to put 'HTTP://"; or "MAILTO:"; in
front.
If I could protect these prefixes in the field this should be solved.
