IIRC, there's a way to see if a file is open or not.  You could simply use
that to make sure you don't close a file that's already been closed.

Or, you could redo you procedure to something like this:

p Myproc     b
d Myproc     pi

 /free
      open  myfile
      RecursiveProc()
      close myfile
 /end-free
p MyProc     e

p RecursiveProc   b
d RecursiveProc   pi

 /free
    //whatever
    RecursiveProc()

 /end-free
p RecursiveProc   e
