No it's not text.  It's encoded binary data.

700 bytes of overhead for a message sucks at any speed, Aaron.  That's
the problem with the latest generation of coders: performance has taken
a back seat to pumping out more bloated code, and that's why we have
programs that require 2GB of memory to run.
