To number the rows I believe you will need to create a user defined
function.

Here is a link to the IBM manuals on the subject. It even includes an
example of just what you are asking for but the code is in c.

to get the total just use the last counter value.

Matt, The select count gives you a total. What I need is the details and
the totals on the same output.

1. ABC
2. DEF

Total 2

My main Select is a Select Distinct so I can remove the dups.
