This is normal for a subfile. When you CHAIN to a subfile record, all
the fields are replaced with the current contents of the subfile record.
What you need to do is to store all your values in work fields, not the
screen fields. Then, you can simply CHAIN to the record, move the work
fields to the screen fields, and then update the record.

There are other ways to do this, including multiple occurrence data
structures, but I find the work fields approach to be very
straightforward and easy to understand and maintain. Simply define your
work fields the same as your screen fields using the LIKE keyword.
