Rob,
Won't COMP(GT 'A') work for both?  
Do you want A to Z is that what you want?
If so, isn't there a RANGE('A' 'Z') keyword too? 
Gosh it's been so long since I've hard coded things into DDS...
Can you use two COMP keywords in DDS? I don't remember.
