A is greater than blank, so > A should exclude blanks.

But if they don't enter anything in the field, the field's modified data
tag is not set on, and thus no error checking is done.

a couple ways to fix this:

validate your field in your program rather than in the dds.  (my
preference, it places all editing in the program, since most programs do
more than just values checking)

change the fields mdt to on:  dspatr(mtd)

HI I need to check a data entry field. It cannot be blank, but also must be
greater than 'A'. COMP only lets you have one condition. I would like to do
this in the DDS only.
