It is exceptionally clear to me that I am dim indeed in this company of
leading lights because when I run across something in an article or online
that is new to me I go look it up.  The EVAL operation code has a clear note
on referring to Precision Rules For Numeric Operations as well as one on
referring to Expressions, where a whole chapter has been added to the
manual.

Apparently, the 'learning by osmosis' methodology has some imperfections, in
that there seems to be substantial discussion on precisely what expressions
are and how they are supposed to work.  I guess I am glad to be less capable
in the osmotic knowledge absorbtion department, because actually looking it
up seems far easier than endlessly debating impressions.
