Subject: RE:Shorthand Syntax (was XFoot with Qualified DS's)

Hello all,

If the driving force behind the RPG enhancements of the past few years
(procedures, prototypes, long field names, qualified data structures, etc)
is to allow RPG coders to better and more easily write readable and
maintainable code, then why on Earth would anyone want to go back to the
practice of using obscure and obtuse 'shortcut op codes'?

Pick one:
1) I am such a fast typist that those extra characters really decrease my
productivity,

2) I'm being environmentally sensitive by having my CRT display fewer
pixels - which equals less electricity,

3) I have job security because no one else in the office can understand what
I write

4) I get personal satisfaction out of pretending to be a 'C' programmer.

Have I missed any?

JK
