Peter,

as far as I remember we had the same problem when we did our first RPG-Free
progams.
The reason were missing PTFs.
You should check for SI0009 and SI07461. If they are not installed this is
probably your problem.
But I'm not sure if it happened on V5R1 or V5R2.

Betreff: Strange error message

Hi group,

I tried to compile a /free format RPGLE program, and came across a strange
phenomenon.

Even though the CODE verifier gives the program a clean bill of health,
the compiler chokes on it:

This seems to be caused by the following statement:

/free
Chain (frmdcd:frtycd:fropcd:frclc1:M(Ctr).MonthName) Stock2;
/end-free

whereby frmdcd, frtycd, fropcd and frclc1 are alpha fields, and
M(Ctr).MonthName is a numeric subfield of a qualified data structure.

When I change the keys of Stock2 so that the numeric field is in front of
the alpha fields, the program compiles just fine.

I checked the archives and apparently this is a bug in the compiler. (Note
to the IBM'ers on this list: are you aware of this and working on a fix?)

According to our system guy, we are up to date on PTF's for 5722WDS, so my
question is whether anyone has found a way to circumvent this problem,
short of changing the key order on existing production files, or creating
additional logicals.

Thanks for any help.
