RE: User Space or Data Queue or PF or IFS

A user index has been around since the day User Spaces were introduced, and
are just an exposed wrapper for the Independent Index object on the machine
(the same index used to create access paths for database files).
This is what a message file is under the covers.
The index entries are limited to 2000 bytes each, and of course, just like
most objects, user indexes have an associated space. That associated space
is also limited to 16MB since a User space is an exposed space object they
are identical under the covers. 
So unless you want to break up your data into 2000 byte chunks, the user
space won't help. 
What would help, and what is sorely need (and long over due in my view) is a
teraspace user index.

Haven't been following this thread that much, but the recent posts have
caught my attention.  Sorry if this has already been stated.

There is something that I just heard about called a User Index that
supposedly holds up to a Terabyte of data.  The IBM person said it operated
similar to a User space except you could index the entries.  You might want
to check that out even though you would be in some serious do-do if you ever
got something that big;-)

Yes, but I don't know that 2 GB will hold what they are requesting.
