Functions. I believe the only difference is that function will return a
value to the caller during an implied call, whereas a procedure does not
return a value and hence must be called with a CALLP (in RPG IV speak). A
procedure has local variables (typically) and can access its own local
variables as well as any globally declared variables.
SubProcedure - The official RPG IV term for Procedures and Functions.

According to the RPG Reference manual, there are basically two types of procedures:

1) The "main procedure" is what you normally think of as a program. That is, it's that procedure that runs the RPG logic cycle.

2) A "subprocedure" is a procedure that's not a main procedure. (A NOMAIN module only contains subprocedures.)

Otherwise, in practice, the terms "procedure" and "subprocedure" are pretty much synonymous. "Procedure" is just the more general term.
