Aaron, I do the same thing, except perhaps a little more coding in Java
than you, and I find RPG to be a breath of fresh air.  I think the ease
of creating and accessing database data makes any other syntax
(including SQL, but especially JDBC) look cumbersome and awkward in
comparison.  The ability to use externally described data structures as
parameters is a dream in a message-based architecture.  Being able to
seamlessly switch between RPG and CL modules is crucial.

My point is that one man's trash is another man's treasure.  "I like the
way it looks" is simply not a programming benefit.
