Declare a field as a date type *ISO with *INZ.
You can use it to compare and/or load a field with the default.

Subject: ISO Date in RPGLE

We use a canned package software – SSA’s PRMS. They use ISO Dates in
all files. If a date is not required at the time they put 0001-01-01 in
for the default date. In ILE I tried to compare the date field with
0001-01-01 and could not make it work. First how can I see if the date
is equal to 0001-01-01 and second how can I fill the date with
0001-01-01.

Thanks
