Within a C/L after the cpytoimpf (putting it to a .csv file extension)
you could e-mail the file, ftp the file, or give users
a mapped network drive to where the file resides on the IFS,
and they would pull in the CSV file as in import to excel -

However;
if you want a completely "native" excel file - you will have
to purchase a package - as for myself, I have not had a need
to look any further with this, users have been happy to import
the CSV and work with it. Therefore; I do not know names of or
prices of packages to create a .XLS file. Though "if" that is
the direction you are looking to go, I am sure someone else on
this list has been there and would have more information.

Subject: RE: AS400 to EXCEL

   Hi all:

I did find a lot interesting things @ midrange regarding converting PF to
an Excel file. But still a few questions remain:

Using CPYTOIMPF, I was able to create Source Member containing formatted
   data i.e. character strings in ' " ' and numbers separated by ' , '.

But I would like to generate an Excel file from this member without any
human intervention i.e. programmatically. How do I achieve that?

   Please advise.

   Regards,

   Hrishikesh Kotwal
