The code I have came as a tutorial and I have the source I posted here 
http://208.28.41.26/webhits.txt (I don't know if the list allows 
attachments)

The only change I made have my initials above and below the code *SAH 
which lets me get past the precompiler but now again it is complaining 
about the workstation file

Scott,

Could you post more of the code?  You are on the right track.  The
pre-compiler wants the variables in your select to be explicitly defined 
in
the program.  We have several programs here that select records using SQL
and then display the results on the screen so I don't think the issue is
with the pre-compiler.

Dang.  I didn't know if this was the best way to go so I did alot more
reading last night and then defined the fields within a data structure and
now the compiler is complaining about my workstn definition.  Maybe I will
