Yes, except that candle pin bowling used 9 pins, in a diamond formation, (1,
2, 3, 2, 1 IIRC) and the pins were tall and slim.  The ball size sounds
about right.  
  (did a little candle pin bowling when I was stationed in Massachusetts
years and years (and years and years) ago)
