Yes, from what I've seen you have to do it that way. But I'm new to it also.

d ediSales      e ds                  extname( EDISLSFC )

      * select records to the create summary file EDISLSFS
     c/exec sql
     c+ declare c1 cursor for
     c+ select * from edislsfc
     c+    where  wksea = '8' and wkend <= :purgeDate#
     c+ order by wksol, wkcstj, wksty, wkclr
     c/end-exec

      * open cursor
     c/exec sql
     c+ open c1
     c/end-exec

      * fetch cursor
     c/exec sql
     c+ fetch c1 into :ediSales
     c/end-exec

Subject: SQLRPG - Fetch Into a record format?

Doing the SQL thing again. If I do a "Select *", is there a way to "Fetch"
into a record format
or a data structure which is externally defined as the file being fetched?
