The compiler isn't a math textbook.   If it were (A and B) or A and B or (C and 
D) then the parenthesis would come into play.  If it is just straight *and 
statements, as soon as one is false there would be no need to check what is in 
parenthesis.  Parenthesis on the other hand, greatly enhance the readability of 
a program and enhance a programmer's understanding of what is happening. 
However, that doesn't mean the compiler needs them.

Take it from someone who went Ga-Ga in School over Boolean Math -
Parentheses change everything. Try A and B or C and D versus (A and B) or (C
and D). Stuff in Parenthesis is always evaluated first. I tend to use lots
of them 'cause I'm still confused by AND/OR precidence and get even more
confused when you throw in a NOT. Consider A or B and C or NOT D. <Hair
starts to come out>.
