Gumbo Software's excellent Spoolmail utility has a tool program that will
configure your SMTP server properly or check what's wrong with it.

You can use the software free for 30 days. I bet if you install it to use
the tool, you will see how well it sends spool files as PDF's (and a lot of
other formats), you may even end up purchasing it.

First off, make sure you can ping the outside world from a
command line
on a "green screen" from your AS/400.

Now - since you are using snddst, there are a few things that
need
        to be set-up.

Are your alias tables/directory settings correct (set-up),
each user that sends e-mail must be set-up in these areas
to be "authorized" to send out e-mails.

Have you set-up the alias of PCHAPPOP with an e-mail address of
        pchappop@AS400?

Is INTERNET(userid) GATEWAY(address) Internet SMTP Gateway
(set-up in the
        directory)?

On your smtp attributes, is the mail router correct for your
mail server to
        the outside world?

Sorry, dumb question, but have you started the smtp server up
(with-out
        errors),
also after changes, you have to end it and re-start it to take
effect.

Do you have any exit programs preventing this from getting out?

Can you send to that address with a pc based e-mail solution (to
verify the
        address
        is correct).

Those are all I can think of off the top of my head.

Let me know if you need more help with some set-up options.

I am trying to send emails from an application using the SNDDST
command.
Command seems correct and distribution number assigned to
message.
Email is never received. What should I look for to diagnose the
        problem?
