I wonder if thats why he's looking for work?

Maybe the knowledgable people on the AS/400 platform aren't rushing to find
other solutions, so he's not finding the kind of work he likes? Or, perhaps
he's discovered that the people that do move to off the AS/400 platform aren
t much fun to work with, since the moves usually end up as Swamps of Despair
and Diatribe?

Perhaps we should suggest that with his obvious knowledge of these other
solutions, he should be looking to help people stuck on other platforms move
to the platform we've come to love?

Wow, good detective work, Joe!

I dunno, though, I think his motivation *is* advertising and not
research. I think he already knows the market, although it seems to me
he doesn't know the "profile" of the subscribers of this list.

Frankly, in my experience, the conversion of anything (with complexity
and volume) to Oracle is a nightmare waiting to happen. BT,DT. Plus,
the consensus I've gathered is that iSeries is the most stable platform
around. It doesn't make much sense to move mission-critical apps off
the iSeries and onto Win-anything.

Just my .02.
