I'm not sure that I see the connection with RPG in your question.  You
will probably get a more knowledgeable reply from the midrange-l list,
where they deal more with technical problems such as this.

You have described the problem; V5R1 will not support OV/400.  You have
described your solution; convert the office documents to
externally-described printer files.  I'm truly not sure what your
solution means because I don't know what you want to do.

What do you hope to accomplish?  When you are at V5R1, what do you need
to be able to do with these documents?  If you can describe what you
need to do in business terms, you will probably be able to get a more
appropriate response.  What have you tried already?
