If the DDS has been designed using MSGID then option 3 in SDA WILL work,
we use exactly the same technique in all our displays. If you mean the
program is coded to retrieve the values from a message file and then place
in a field defined in the DDS that would be different.

Thank you for the reply. I tried your suggestion. It does not bring in
the entry from the message file. The vendor who wrote this has used
message file retrievals in the DDS instead of text in the DDS. It will
show "Customer Name:" on the screen(when used in an RPG program), but
"Customer Name:" is an entry in a message file.
I just want to see the text on MY screen so that I can see how the fields
will look. It is too involved to go through the screen maze to see this
one just for the sake of checking a field position on a screen...this is
why I'm asking for help.
Thank you. Please help if you can.

Is there a way to test a display file from an AS400 command line? The
display file that I am changing uses all message files for the text on the
screen, so, when I look at it in SDA, it shows as all 0's or X's.
