Vineet,

we do this for some years. What you need is a license program from ORACLE
called "Oracle Access Manager/400". Then you can create RPGSQL programs and
access the ORACLE database by normal embedded SQL syntax. The program
creation must be done by a special command in order to support the creation
of an object from type *SQLPKG. It works well and has a good performance.
Based on our experience we have created a communication tool, called
COMORA/400, which supports the data exchange in both directions. You can
find some infos on our WEB site:
http://www.gefis.com/gefen/html/comora_400.html.
We currently run V4R5 but ORACLE grants also the support for V5R1. We will
start test's next week with V5R2. If they get finished successfully, we will
change the production system to V5R2 in December.

Kind regards,

Individual-Software mbH

Betreff: Access Oracle from RPG

Hi,

Is it possible to access Oracle database through RPG on AS400.
Just like the way we access DB2 on the AS400.

This is for the case when I want to move my database to Oracle but
would
like my RPG programs to run the same way on AS400 as they run now.

Regards,
Vineet Guliani
