Pointer based arrays

I am using a file in a package system that contains contiguous fields FLD01,
FLD02...FLD12.  I have defined a 12 occurrence array based on a pointer.
While executing the program I set the pointer address to FLD01.  I expected
this would make the FLD** values appear in the array.

Sadly, only the FLD01 value appears in the array.  I know I've done this
before, but can't think what I'm missing.

This particular system in on V4R5.
