What are the keys to the data. I'd guess that a 'insert into archive select
* from transaction where xxx' followed by a 'delete from transaction where
xxx' would be the fastest. Depending on the available keys you should be
able to commit on a reasonably small chunk of data, although if you really
wanted to you could do all 8Mil in one commitment block -- just hope you
never have to rollback.

This could possibly be done with a CL that did a runsqlstm from a source
member if you wanted to.
