Thanks for pointing that control keyword out to me.  But, here is another
situation I have to know in order to use integers in my database that I
should not have to.  Here is a typical OS/400 data base data type not
supported by RPG as a standard.   This really hurts RPG, just like being
required to know the maximum digit length of integers.

I was convinced it was earlier than V5R2 and eventually tracked it back as
being introduced in V3R2/6 !!  So you've had the ability to have binary
fields in the DB treated as INTs for a loooong time!
