On creating windows in general, take a look at www.mcpressonline and read E. 
Malaga's "Perfecting DDS Windows in Modular Programming" 
(http://www.mcpressonline.com/mc?1@138.0mHqasAjTRy.33@.5bfa4503), originally 
published in September 1993. This is my main source of information on this 
subject and I stick to that (with occasional adaptations).
