I kinda hate to let go of MODS too - i've always sorta loved them - the
best way to do things for a long time, but I always hated the limitations
of the occurs statement to access them.

you can do all of these without using mult occurs data structures - you
might be confusing that with simple single level externally described DS's.

record; you can use based DS's with prefixes to directly compare fields in
different occurrences.
