     The sample problem should be coded as follows (IMHO)
                    L1               EXSR       L1DETAIL
                                       EXSR        DETAIL
L1                                   EXSR       L1TOTAL
L2                                   EXSR       L2TOTAL
L3                                   EXSR       L3TOTAL   , etc., etc., etc.

     In the first line of code in L1DETAIL is a line L2    EXSR  L2DETAIL and
so on thru the group. That way you will only be checking your L2-L3 (or
whatever) after an L1 detail has occurred. And you won't have all those
indicators checked on every cycle.
