No, these are pretty simple srvpgms.   I may have one file in the f-spec,
and that one doesn't have a USROPN, becuase I need it open everytime.

David,

You mention service programs, do those service programs have f spec's also
or is all access through SQL?  If there are a large number of files on f
spec's and they are not coded USROPN then they are all opened when the
service program is activated.  We have had a couple of instances where the
delay due to this was very noticable.  We have gone to coding all files in
service programs as USROPN and then only opening them when they are needed.
If these service programs access procedures from other service programs
then
they are being activated at start up also.
