Hi Jonathan,

It depends... do you need the data of the other files for each record in the
master file, of does it depend on certain criteria ?  Sometimes manually
CHAINing the record is much faster than a JOIN, sometimes it isn't.

We have an RPG program that reads a combine logical file which contains 3
combined
master files (approx. 4 million records per file). This program takes
several hours to run.

Is there a better alternative logic that will speed up the performance of
an RPG program
with or without using a combine logical file ?
