The solution I used once is:
Define the SFLCSRRRN in the DSPF.
Place the DSPATR(MDT) on the subfile field on which you want to prompt,
condition this with an indicator.
Process the prompting.
Chain to the SFL record using the RRN given by the SFLCSRRRN.
Turn the indicator on.
Update the SFL record.
Turn the indicator off.

That should do it.

Unfortunately I cannot verify this, as I am at home.
