Second line needs to be (NOT = %SUBST(%TRIML(...

The expression, as set up, expects a Boolean (true/false) value.

Subject: What's wrong with this %SubSt call? Looks fine to me.

     DThisLine         S           1024A   Varying

 /free
              DoW ( NOT %EOF(Source) ) AND ( NOT %Error ) AND
                    ( NOT %SubSt( %TrimL(ThisLine): 1: 2) = '/*' );
RNF7421S Operands are not compatible with the type of operator.

The %SubSt is highlighted as the error. What is wrong with this code?

I changed %TrimL(ThisLine): to 'XXX': to test, and same error.

Is RPG trying to do an assignment instead of a comparison? What am I doing
wrong?

Regards,

Jim Langston
