try
eval filename = editc(field1:'X') + editc(field1:'X') + '.txt'

Subject: Leading Zeros

Hi all,

I am developing a string that is used for the name of a file that I am
creating in the IFS. I am using numeric values in the string and I don't
want the leading zeros to be suppressed. For example:

field1 = 0000001
field2 = 0000012

eval filename = field1 + field2 + '.txt'

00000010000012.txt -vs- 112.txt

The file names are much more involved than the above and I don't want to do
a move because I am guessing that there is something else that can be used.
I have looked at %char, %editc, and %editw and none of them appear to do
what I am asking.

help. . .
