Don't forget to use the DSPPGMREF to look at what files each program
accesses. However, if it were that easy, Hawkeye wouldn't exist. There is
always the override in a CL or the override that you could do from a HLL
(RPG, COBOL, C, etc.)

Hawkeye not only scans the source, but takes broken names in source and puts
them back together if you want (ie. movel 'pgmna' variable, mover 'me'
variable Hawkeye adds 'filena' and 'me' together to get 'filename'.)

If you don't do overrides ever, DSPPGMREF might be enough. Otherwise you
will want to write an application that looks for all source files (in
Hawkeye you configure the names of the library and source files in a table).
Then in a RPG program (whatever) you program a scan of each record.

If you have maintenance with Hawkeye, call them. They will help you.

Subject: Re: FINDING A FILE

Maybe I need to be a little bit more explanatory. (Thanks for the post so
far) What I'm
actually doing is trying to find a database (PF file) that is used in all
code on the system.
For instance you go to your QRPGSRC member, (from one specific library then
you)
will see a list of your source code files. Put a 25 out beside the first
RPG type and press
F13 to put a 25 beside all files and press enter then the search box comes
up I put in my
database (ITEMASU) and press enter, it will show me all the programs that
use that
database. This is what I would like to do but for all RPG's RPGLE's, CL's,
DDS's in
every library on the system. I hope this clears up any confusion. I was
trying to find an
easier way, and our Hawkeye is not setup yet.

I have a little project to do that maybe someone has already accomplished.
I need to search for a database file in every DDSSRC, RPGLESSRC, CLPSRC,
and RPGSRC from every source library on the system. Does anyone have
(RPG) code that would accomplish this task that they would be willing to
share. I will
be happy to give you an ataboy? We have Hawkeye but I don't know how
to use it.
